Sailing
Sailing has been part of my life and career for a long time. As a kid I did all sorts of sailing and always wanted to do more. When I was 19 I decided to chase my dream for real.
For two years I sailed around the world on the Clipper Stad Amsterdam (shown below), taking part in a TV series by the VPRO: 'De Beagle, in het kielzog van Darwin' in which we sailed the route Charles Darwin sailed before he wrote the Origin of Species. We also did races, (luxury) sailing cruises and more. After that, when I started my education as a designer, sailing as a profession got more intertwined with my life on-shore.
The last couple of years I combined sailing with my work as a designer. This resulted in the idea of owning a ship that allows me to spend time in different places, doing projects with new people while experiencing this ultimate sense of freedom.
In 2018 a suitable boat was found and in 2019 I spend most part of the summer in Scandinavia on board. Working, sailing and discovering this part of Europe while sharing the experience with others.
Since 2020 the homeport is Amsterdam, from where I sail with my family, friends, use it as a remote office and prepare the boat for longer voyages and projects to come.
