The challenge
In collaboration with SThree; one of the worlds largest recruiters, we took on a problem that both recruiters and candidates face. Every week tens of thousands candidate profiles come in worldwide, which need reviewing by recruiters. If there is a possible match an interview is scheduled which can be pretty hard since the company operates in all timezones and on all continents. A lot of potential good matches are lost because these candidates can’t be screened and interviewed which is frustrating for the candidates and a missed opportunity for recruiters.
The solution
We designed a stand alone video-interviewing tool that integrates perfectly in the recruiter workflow (Salesforce). Instead of just placing a vacancy the recruiter can fill in relevant interview questions for candidates. The candidates get the option to take a video interview.
This speeds up the recruitment proces, gives candidates a chance to show themselves in stead on only handing in a CV or motivation and increases the succes of a match.
Now from a recruiter perspective this seems like a very good idea, but our attention went just as well to the candidates. What do they want? How do they like being filmed, even if it’s optional? What does their proces look like? How is a video viewed by a recruiter and what will that do for the candidate? Should the video be shared with the client or stay between the candidate and the recruiter.. and so on.
This made for an interesting case. Especially when looking a bit further; automatically screening video’s with AI to make a pre-selection for a recruiter for example. There are a lot of ethical questions surrounding this case.
For us it was about designing and building a successful first working product, which we did. After three investment rounds and increasingly positive reviews my company was bought out and the product launched on a global scale.
